The Falcon and the Winter Soldier spoilers follow.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier boss Malcolm Spellman has played down reports about Captain America 4.
Last week, following the series finale of Marvel’s latest TV spin-off, it was claimed that a fourth Cap movie is in the works, with Anthony Mackie taking on the title role.
Spellman and Dalan Musson were said to be writing the script, but the former believes that until Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige publicly comments, nothing is for certain.
“Who said it? Did Kevin say it?” he asked ComicBook.com. “I would not put faith in anything you do not hear directly from the man himself!”
Basically, we all might need to hold our horses for a bit.
He also insisted that he hasn’t thought about any of the characters’ futures and went on to discuss Sharon Carter’s next move following the Power Broker reveal at the end of the Disney+ series.
“I think Sharon, how villainous is she? I don’t know,” Spellman added. “Did she really hurt Sam at all in that storyline? You know what I’m saying? I don’t know.
“Like to me, Sharon could go all the way bad, could come back. Who knows where she’s going to go? I haven’t put a ton of though in it. I might’ve just said too much right there.”
Mackie himself has also weighed in on the Captain America 4 news, previously sharing: “I literally found out yesterday in a grocery store. The checkout guy named Dwayne, a cool cat, he’s like, ‘Yo, man. Is this real?!’ I’m like, ‘I haven’t heard anything.’
“That’s what I love about working for Marvel. They call you, they’re like, ‘Come to LA. We wanna tell you what’s going on.’ So, I’m excited to see what happens, but I haven’t heard anything.”
He jokingly added: “What would be really bad is if the movie starts and I get blown out of the sky.”
