“Just want to say thank you to everybody for your well wishes, and thank you for everyone who reached out and sent me the get-well wishes and all the advice on how to feel better,” Strahan, 49, said in a video message that aired Wednesday. “I just want to let you know I do feel a lot better and I’m just thankful to be on the side of it that I am.”
“GMA” announced last week that Strahan had tested positive for the novel coronavirus and would be quarantining. He has been absent from the show since Jan. 25.
“I’m doing well,” Strahan said Wednesday, though he acknowledged that “you don’t want COVID” or to “go through everything that it brings with it.”
The host and former NFL player said his current priorities are resting and hydrating “as much as I can” to gain back his strength to be able to return to work after meeting quarantine protocols.
“I miss you guys. I miss work. For my own sanity, I gotta get out of this house,” he joked.
Strahan reiterated his thanks to his co-workers and fans who were sending him support: “You guys don’t know how much it means to me to know how many people care about me and my health,” he said, urging others to “take care of yourself” and to follow all COVID-19 safety guidelines.
“Wear a mask, wash your hands, use your wipes,” Strahan said. “I did all those things, but it just goes to show me that it takes more than just you as an individual. Everybody has to do it so that we help out each other, because it’s more than just about you: t’s about the people you’re around and your fellow human beings.”
