Bill Belichick celebrated Patriots demolition of Jets with a cold beer – New York Post

This Bud’s for Bill.

Following the Patriots’ 54-13 beatdown of the Jets on Sunday, Bill Belichick was apparently satisfied enough to kick his feet up and relax. WEEI reporter Ryan Hannable spotted Belichick and Matt Patricia celebrating the win in a Gillette Stadium lounge, with Belichick sipping a Budweiser.

Why a Budweiser? Well, it’s not his drink of choice.

“No, not really,” Belichick said in a WEEI appearance on Monday. “It was just what was on the menu.”

Asked what his go-to drink would be, Belichick responded, “Whatever’s cold.”

With the Patriots at 3-4, there’s only so much satisfaction Belichick can take from demolishing the hapless Jets. But the box score paints a picture that would be hard for New England to take issue with.

The Patriots threw for 411 yards, ran for 148 yards, converted 32 first downs, created three turnovers without having any of their own and were up 31-3 at halftime. They dropped the Jets to 1-5 — a demoralizing loss for Robert Salah and Co.

“I really have a lot of respect for these guys,” Belichick said of his team. “They come to work every day. We’ve improved every day, really every week. We’re far from perfect and far from where we need to be, but we’re heading in the right direction.”
